there are lot of people who never adapt to keto. Lyle McDonald is the major expert on ketosis and ketogenic diets and he too acknowledges that lot of people will never adapt to keto and they will keep feeing terrible and without energy on keto. If you have a carbohydrate metabolism disorder and manage to keep your BS normal, you still may have abnormal levels of insulin, this is not a good thing. I do eat pasta, whole wheat (I measure with a meter and whole wheat doesn't spike me as white) and as long as the portion is small, there are proteins, fats and veggies in the plate as well, it's a meal that doesn't play havoc with my BGs. So this video is spot on, expecially if a steak and veggies, ketogenic, very low carb and no starches doesn't work for you or stopped working after few months, as in my case.

Dr. Atkins also never said to keep eating a low carb forever, you're supposed to climb a carbohydrates ladder until you find the amount of carb your body tolerates and needs. For many people that amount is around 150 grams and more if they're into sport or athletically active. The induction never worked for me. What works for me is a diet with around 30% to 40% carbs with more carbs after a workout. Very lot fat diets like 10% to 20% are fat-deficient and revolting, so I agree there.

If you are eating low carb the need for insulin is a lot less, you will have plenty for your biological needs. Gluconeogenesis will easily supply all of the glucose your brain needs, diabetics are very good are converting protein to glucose. Man can easily survive without eating any carbs. Also we're not cats, cats are carnivorous and their brains doesn't need the amount of glucose we need nor their salive contains ptyalin to digest starches and their blood sugar runs a lot lowers than us. Even though our brains can adapt to burning some ketone bodies, the brain will never use 100% ketone bodies and will still need at least a 40% of direct glucose, which is why proteins will always be used. I'm sorry but the diet you propose failed a lot of people. It's the high fat Homo Optimus diet. But proteins are too low in that diet and if you raise them you get glucogenesis spikes. Most people never adapt to getting their energy from the fat, they feel sluggish and tired even after months and the few proteins they get is converted to sugar, making them protein deficient. Check the website diabetesdaily and in the forum you'll find lot of diabetics who didn't have success with low-carb

In my opinion MOST of the diet recommendations for type 2 diabetics are insane. The majority of diet recommendations are for between 40-55% of the calories from CARBS. To me, that is similar to a doctor recommending to someone with badly arthritic knees, train for a marathon. I think that if a doctor recommends that type of diet, they must buy into government propoganda or want to sell a lot of diabetes medication. On a low carb diet you can have normal blood sugar in weeks if not days.

Bullshit? No. Green tea is full of things that are great for your body. I've seen first hand what it can do. My boss was suffering from prostate cancer at the age of 73. We replaced everything he drank (beer, soda, wine) with water and green tea. The doctors were amazed at his progress, and found it hard to believe that that's all we really changed. It's not a miracle substance, but it's a lot better for you than people give it credit for.

I'm 37 and I always go to the bathroom. It's been like this for couple of years now. I went to doctor today since I thought that I might have bph. He said that usually happens to older people. My blood was checked and he said everything looks normal. He said I might have Urethritis and he gave me 10 days pres and to visit him in 2 weeks to see if that helps it. I got this the second week of July 2008 and felt bad for months !! Got brachial neuritis & something called Parsonage-Turner Syndrome....... just now getting my triceps muscle back in my right arm (been 15 months)!! If you have mild then mine and his (if he's severe) is far worse then yours. If we both ran a mile I would have a bleed, id get the bleed just looking at the road never mind moving BUT if we both got shot then we're as screwed as each other.

@gotcha09 Yes it is manageable in the same way being born blind in one eye is, you don't know any different, you can do anything but it's not advisable you go jumping out of tree's or play rugby and would need (depending how 'severe' your condition is ) to possibly take some factor 8-9 to prevent a bleed. Is the life of a haemophiliac manageable ? It's kinda like m/s, someday are good and the next could be a nightmare.

; this is not 100% true if you had severe haemophilia (like me as well) you would be born with visible signs (bruising, swelling etc) or at least show them within days. BUT! some haemophiliacs can have the disease all there life and never need to-do a treatment or feel the effects (ie only missing lower then average factor levels), some only a few treatments in there lifetime and others every other day just for prevention and extra of top, who like me have very low levels.

I'm going to really show my ignorance here, I know, but I realize that hemophilia can't be cured, or at least I've never heard of one, but is it more manageable that it was decades ago? The only thing I know about it is-it's a blood clotting disorder, and some of the royal houses of Europe had it. And it was passed from mother to son.

STS is, of course, rare and most of the drugs currently used for it are prehistoric, wearing down the toughest of patients. Frequent scans will be the only way to stay on top of recurrences. You can't feel the despair a disease like this causes until you or a family member go through it. I imagine that there isn't much funding for this cancer and since there are few patients (rare disease), I hope and pray that experimentation will continue on tissue samples as well as theoretical models.

a quicker diagnosis would have given a better chance at complete resection with the initial operation (which was extensive by the time this got to surgery). I've read that cure has classically been achieved better by initial resection. After 3 surgeries, thank God for an experienced oncologist who knocked it out. Recurrences (two of them) were back to back (2 or 3 months apart) between surgeries but, after chemotherapy and radiation, the latest recurrence took 2 years, which is a good thing.

His response to my query each time was "these aren't the *classic* symptoms of pneumonia"....so a couple of months (precious time) was wasted on antibiotics before the referral to the lung specialist. I eventually got sucked into the pneumonia theory (I have zero medical training) and then became worried it was MRSA. It was definitely STS. Biopsy revealed it. I don't hate the doctor, I realize he probably will see only 1 or 2 sarcomas in his lifetime but.....

We went to the MD, he saw a huge mass on the x-rays and insisted it was pneumonia. I kept asking "are you SURE this is pneumonia? Symptoms such as lung pain (across the chest...I've had it myself a few times), coughing, high fever and body aches are completely absent."
