I'm 37, and have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis. I think they're wrong. My mother wants me to go have tests done to see if I have RA because I have a family history of it on both sides. It seems to move around, but then there are days like I have had for the past 2 days it settles in several places at the same time. Both wrists, elbow, both ankles, both knees, and lower back. i was diagnosed at 5 years old when i was little my mom always told me that i was crying and always in pain and she was worried that i inherited a hip problem from my father come to find out it was RA! There are many different types of arthritis, so you can't be diagnosed online just by your symptoms. When I went to the doctor, I had an x-ray and a blood test to rule out conditions with the symptoms I had.

well i apperently have the gout caused by uric acid crystals.. i know red meat contributes to that as well as tomatoes... i also have multiple cysts the doc thinks may be RA.. i've started to suspect meat and dairy as a reason too.. our closest relatives orangatans and chimps hardly eat meat.. mainly fruit veggies and nuts so perhaps we shouldn't eat so much meat..

I don't have the disease I think but I'm going through these comments because my mom does and it really saddens me that people suffer from such a disease, especially the 16 yr old. Life is harsh, and it has no manual or instruction to live completely healthy. I hope the wealth of information I've attained from these videos will help in my mother's recovery. My wife was diagnosed with RA last year in August after 4 months of increasing joint pain. We asked if food would help and it was met with a wall of rejection by her rheumatologist. In October of that same year, I began to have sore feet, then shoulder, then swollen hands. Had the test for Rheumatoid factor, which is high and Anti CCP is high also. After two visits to my specialist, it's inconclusive. Anyone heard of this happening to two people months apart before. Specialists are not phased.

Shred...............sorry to hear that. Don't give up. My fundamental point was simply that adding or subtracting a few things from your diet was not going to change a major medical disorder. It could help a little bit I suppose. If someone eats pizza and candy bars all day I don't imagine that is very positive....I had a friend who went on a STRICT diet via a nutrionist which helped him ALOT. With all due respect this is BS. There is a headache and then there is a HEADACHE. There is a sprained ankle and there is a SPRAINED ANKLE. I'm an athlete. I've had so many injuries I couldn't even list them. My threshold of pain is up in the moon somewhere. One morning I woke up about five years ago and I couldn't get dressed. I have SEVERE RA. I am on Methotrx, Arava, Plaquenil AND Enbrel (an shot). My knees and hips are damaged, but my meds keep my RA from progressing faster. Having said that, I have ALSO tried the dietary route (which is very DIFFICULT), and it DID HELP!!! I am aware of the Leaky Gut causation theory for RA, and honestly, I sort of believe it. As we speak, I am also treating myself for Leaky Gut Syndrome. People don't have to choose one or the other. See what works for you.

I feel the same way. I could imagine having this my whole life. I was diagnosed when I turned 21. It has been a life changing experience and I do believe staying mentally strong and talking about this disease has really helped me to stay focused on every day life. We all have to be strong when dealing with this disease...its not easy though...eating right and staying on the meds is also extremely important

I have a severe case of JRA and have been on many medications and had three joint replacements. Keeping a positive additude and attempting to maintain as normal of a life as possible, while still recognizing the disease has helped. I am not fixing to graduate from college and, although it is tough at times, I have made it through. These types of videos are helpful for kids all over the world who need someone to identify with. Hang in there!

JRA really does suck, I was diagnosed with it when I was around 2. That girl is doing a good job with keeping going, and it probably helps that she has a mom willing to let her stop doing something if it hurts.

Hi Blueskies,, i agree on what you say, i had a food sensitivity test done and found that i am allergic to many foods and when staying strict on brown rice and salmon, i feel great! so yes it's hard to not eat all these good foods such as pizza, but there is a price to pay and I'd rather feel good than eat foods i can't and feel bad,,,liver detox helped aswell, im all natural and dont take any drugs whatsoever and have been feeling great, it took a while but sure worked for me in 3 months

I also have Arthritis. This video is sad, yet hopeful. Even though I will never understand everything in this lifetime, they always say things happen for a reason, and I believe that. It's finding the reason that's hard. Bless the doctors who put many hours into research trying to find a cure for RA, or stop the disease process. i find when I stay away from red meat, sugar, caffeine and eggs, I feel about 75% better. As soon as I start eating these foods again, my joints flare unbelievably. The best diet to be on a "salad and salmon" diet - lots of vegetables and fish.

Been on MTX for a lil over a year now for rheumatoid arth., Started on the pills, but they made me sick, so had to switch to injections of 1 cc a week. No side effects since switching to injections. My wife just got pregnant, were a lil scared considering MTX can cause birth defects, otherwise my arthritis has been very well controlled.

My Doc told me I could still drink alcohol as long as I stick to the reccomended daily limits, but I have regularly overindulged :-D and my bloods are fine. yes i was on remicade, lost my hips while on that. Switched to Enbrel, im still losing more joints, knees are almost gone, shoulders are bad, and am currently in the process of switching from Enbrel to Orencia. Nothing seems to work at supressing the disease, but there's stuff i havent tried yet, so, guess hope is still there..

I know it is hard. But dont give up!! I know because I ave to tell myself that everyday. I am om the same meds, and my body seems to get better then flares up again. I also have fibromyalgia as well . I am too young just turned 29 two weeks ago. and yes and times I feel like my life has been taken. But then I think about people who are in a worster stake than me. Very good video. Ive been on MTX for 9 months now, and it has helped significantly with my arthritis. BUT, in the last couple of months I have been getting the worst headaches I have ever had. As soon as I have a week of the MTX these go away and I feel much better. I fear that I cannot continue with this med at the moment.

i hated methotrexate, it didnt help me at all. Nothing helps me at all. Ive been on high doses of Prednisone for 8 years and ive lost my hips, and im losing my knees and shoulders. Ive been on so many different meds that did nothing for me. I dont know what to do anymore. Everyone seems to find something that works, but not me. I want my life back. I want to live like a 20 yr old should..

I am 48 and have RA. I am taking MTX but have some nasty side effects. I wish I could get this treatment in the UK. I think it is licenced now or nearly, but it is very expensive, and it look like the NHS will not pay as I am not 'crippled' enough.

Thanks for posting this. Up until recently I have controlled my RA naturally (20+ years). I am back to the drawing board with food sensitivities but am working with a naturopathic dr to get to the root of it. More people need to understand that this is not a life sentence and while there may not be a "cure" in the form of a pill there are ways to put yourself into longterm remission. Thank you again.
